Sebanyak 12 klub selancar ombak atau surfing terbaik di Indonesia akan bersaing dalam grand final Liga Surfing Indonesia 2024 yang digelar di Uluwatu, Bali, selama tiga hari pada 18-20 Oktober.

 

Kompetisi tersebut akan mempertemukan klub surfing dari Sumatera hingga Sumbawa Barat, yang bertarung di delapan kategori, yaitu shortboard dan longboard putra dan putri, masters, junior, U-10, dan Club Challenge.

 

Liga Surfing Indonesia merupakan kompetisi di bawah Persatuan Selancar Ombak Indonesia (PSOI), dijalankan oleh Asian Surf Cooperative (ASC).

 

"Kami sangat bersemangat untuk menyelenggarakan Grand Final LSI keempat di Uluwatu, lokasi dan ombak yang ikonik, dan memberikan para talenta klub (boardrider) penghargaan dari penampilan mereka yang menakjubkan selama musim 2024," kata perwakilan ASC Tipi Jabrik dalam pernyataan tertulis yang disiarkan melalui sosial media LSI, Kamis.

 

Liga Surfing Indonesia memberikan kesempatan bagi klub boardriders untuk mengembangkan peselancarnya dan bersaing di level tertinggi, untuk memperkuat komunitas selancar lokal dan membantu peselancar muda tumbuh dan bersaing.

 

Pemenang ajang tahunan yang digelar untuk keempat kalinya itu akan menerima trofi dan hadiah dari sponsor, serta gelar prestisius sebagai juara Liga Surfing Indonesia 2024.

 

"Bersama dengan PSOI kami menyambut semua peserta klub surfing untuk hadir dalam ajang ini, dan mendorong semua orang untuk hadir di Uluwatu dan mendukung acara ini, atau jika tidak di Bali, dapat menyaksikan lewat kanal Youtube," ujar Tipi yang juga merupakan Sekretaris Jenderal PSOI.

 

Liga Surfing Indonesia pertama kali digelar di Halfway, Pantai Kuta, Bali, pada Maret 2022 dengan diikuti oleh 197 atlet selancar ombak.

Pada grand final Liga Surfing Indonesia 2022, klub tuan rumah, Halfway Kuta Boardriders tampil perkasa dengan mendominasi empat dari enam nomor pertandingan.

 

Seri kedua Liga Surfing Indonesia digelar di Pantai Pererenan, Badung, Bali, pada Oktober 2022. Liga Surfing Indonesia 2023 kembali digelar di Halfway, Pantai Kuta, Bali, pada November 2023.
